Happy Grandparents Day to all the incredible grandmas and grandpas around the world! We hope your day is filled with lots of hugs and kisses from your grandkids. We are grateful for your wisdom, kindness and generosity. In honor of this special day, here are nine reasons why grandparents are the best:
Grandparents tell the best stories about their childhood
Grandpa and grandma give the biggest (and best) hugs and kisses
Grandmas let their grandchildren help them bake delicious cookies and cakes
Grandpas share the comic section of the newspaper with their grandkids
They love to spoil their grandchildren
Sometimes, grandparents let grandkids stay up a little past their bedtime
No matter how far away their grandkids live, they always remember their birthdays
They love to brag about how wonderful their grandchildren are to all of their friends
Best of all, grandparents love spending time with their grandkids
The bond little ones have with their grandparents is unbreakable. Four-year-old Lilly loves her great-grandma so much that she is determined to find a cure for Alzheimer’s for her. Lilly’s fight to end Alzheimer’s began a year ago when she started asking for donations from her neighbors for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This year, Lilly has participated in raising money by serving at lemonade stands with her cousins and now she wants to receive a contribution from all 50 states. Each time she collects a pledge from a new state, she colors in the state on her map of the U.S.
Although Lilly’s great-grandma doesn’t always remember her, she knows that her nanny loves her very much. To Lilly, donating money to this wonderful cause isn’t just about helping her great-grandma; it’s about helping everyone that is suffering from this disease.
We wish Lilly the best of luck with receiving pledges from all 50 states! This Thoughtful Thursday, we honor the devotion this great granddaughter has for her nanny.
If you would like to make a donation, visit Lilly’s walk page.
Put on your happy face and grin from ear-to-ear because it’s National Smile Week! This cheerful holiday is celebrated during the second week of August each year. National Smile Week was originally created to promote dental health, but over the years it has turned into a time to encourage healthy habits and share the positive effects of smiling! In honor of this joyous week, here are seven reasons to grin:
It’s easy to smile
Smiling is good for your health
It’s fun to smile
When you smile, you get to show off those pearly whites!
